I met Ibrahim, the camel shepherd on my way to the Dead Sea, Kalia Beach, a popular tourist place where one day bus trips dump visitors every day. We talked long, he was delighted that someone actually was curious about him, apart from shooting quick selfies with his camels, Capuccino & Freddo. He was truly passionate as he described how he rides out to the desert every dusk - camels have such a big need for activity in real life, compared to what you normally see with tourist attraction animals, laying in the dirt. Ibrahim didn’t have a phone, but gave me his grandmother’s number to send him the pictures. No one ever takes pictures of him, usually just the camels, two minutes, this is the time needed to help well-fed western tourists on top of a camel and shoot a quick selfie.
